The Men’s Cougar Cross Country team made the top three in the country this week for the first time in three years. The title came with seven runners finishing in the top eight spots. Head Coach Ed Eyestone went into the season expecting to rebuild, but the runners had other ideas.
“I think it’s been more of a reloading year because our guys have certainly come out swinging and have done very, very well,” Eyestone said.
He hopes the team can finish in the top three at nationals, something they haven’t done since he’s been the coach. Next week they’ll get a chance to measure up against #1 Colorado at regionals, then they’ll be off to chase the national championship trophy.
