PROVO– BYU’s football defensive front is currently tied for third in the country with 24 sacks, the most Coach Mendenhall has ever had at this point in the season.
“You can tell the quarterback is dropping back and he’s just waiting for somebody to hit him so he can’t focus on the receivers downfield,” Fred Warner, a defensive leader, said.
The team said they’re excited when the quarterback prepares to pass because they’re confident they’ll hit him before he throws. With 8 sacks against Cincinnati, the most since their 1997 Cotton Bowl appearance, all signs are pointing to a victory this weekend against FCS school Wagner.
